- Registered Syrian refugees (995,512 in January 2018) are included in the tabulated figures. The number of non-registered Syrian refugees is estimed to be about 400,000.
- Palestine refugees residing in camps (174,422 according to the mid-2017 census) are not included in above figures (click on detail button for break down). Furthermore, there are about 40,000 Palestinian refugees from Syria in Lebanon.
- Migration of Lebanese are not considered by the tabulated figures.
- The actual total end-of-2017 population was – using these numbers – about 6.05 million.
- In August 2017 the Lebanese parliament declared a new governorate Keserwan-Jbeil to be split from Mount Lebanon; capital will become Jounieh; 2017 population: 282,222.
